NETANYAHU SAYS: ‘WE MUST FINISH THE JOB’!

KIRYAT SHEMONA, Israel -- Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu found this northern Israeli city a ghost town today when he came to meet the residents officials.

Those that stayed behind were few. They also were defiant – and so was he. In a town meeting behind the heavy steel doors and reinforced concrete of the city hall bomb shelter, Netanyahu came to reassure residents that he fully supported the government in the war in Lebanon . He said as much even though he became leader of the opposition to Prime Minister Olmert following the March 2006 election.

One resident gave such praise to Netanyahu and his Likud party that Netanyahu joked that he should run for parliament.

An impassioned woman blasted the government for pussy-footing around in its ground offensive in Lebanon. She said she was ready to stay "six months in the shelters" if that was needed in order to finish off the Hezbollah rocket attacks.

Benjamin Netanyahu told NewsMax in an exclusive interview that he did not believe it would take tha"Finish the job. That is the goal set by the government. It's the goal that everyone here supports," he said.

Sporadic mortar fire hit the hills above this empty city today, setting brush fires. On Sunday, over one hundred rockets and mortars pounded the city and its immediate surroundings.

An artillery battalion has camped two kilometers outside of town in an empty field, and pounds Hezbollah positions day and night.

Hezbollah rockets have landed within the Israelis artillery position over the past two weeks, and have injured several soldiers, but none seriously, NewsMax learned today from battalion troops and officers.

"Our ambulance was hit by a katyusha," said Dr. Zev Wimpfheimer, the battalion doctor. Wimpfheimer, who hails from Teaneck , N.J. , came to Israel two years ago and is nearing the end of his compulsory 18 months of military service as a doctor.

At 33, he is the oldest officer in the entire battalion, besides the battalion commander.

Netanyahu said that Iran was waging a "proxy war" against Israel and America, and that Hezbollah wouldn't last "two days without Iran."

The following is an exclusive NewsMax interview, held today, with former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

NewsMax: What was the message you brought here to Kiryat Shemona?

Benjamin Netanyahu: Finish the job. Don't do half the job. Remove the threat by breaking Hezbollah's fighting ability and destroying the missile arsenal. That is the goal set by the government. It's the goal that everyone here supports.

You saw me meet somebody in there who said, "I'm willing to stay in the shelters six months," perhaps not, and it won't take that long – but finish the job. That's the message.

NewsMax: Some people have called this Iran 's proxy war against Israel and America . Do you agree with that?

Benjamin Netanyahu: Without a doubt. One hundred percent. Hezbollah doesn't last two days without Iran . It doesn't last three days without Syria .

NewsMax: What do you think are Iran'sgoals?

Benjamin Netanyahu: I think this is a test-fire, test-firing of rockets into a Western country. Iran is committed to the destruction of Israel . It denies the Holocaust while preparing a new Holocaust. But Iran is also committed to a demented branch of Shiism which sees an apocalyptic war of millions of casualties in which Shiism will rise and the West will go down.

We may be the first target, but we're not the last target.

The other kind of fanaticism we witnessed 60 years ago, Nazism, also tried to arm itself with atomic weapons. These mad militancies start with attacks on the Jews, but they never end there. And ultimately the target is our free civilization.

NewsMax: World War II started with the Spanish Civil War. Is this like the Spanish Civil War, testing out the weapons, testing out the techniques and the tactics?

Benjamin Netanyahu: I think that radical Islam declared a world war on the rest of the world a quarter of a century ago, with the victory of the Mujahedin in Afghanistan and the formation of al-Qaida and the establishment of the first radical Islamic republic in Iran .

These are expressions already of that same ideology that has been gurgling forth.

Now it has established two beachheads: one in Gaza with the Hamas, the other with Hezbollah in the north. And the citizens of the world beware.

Gingrich says World War 3 has Begun

World War 3 has begun, and the nation’s leadership is failing to deal with this reality, former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich concludes.

Appearing on NBC’s "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert Sunday, Gingrich explained that "today is not the fifth day of the war, it’s the 58th year of the effort by those who want to destroy Israel . As Ahmadinejad, the head of Iran , says, he wants to defeat the Americans and eliminate Israel from the face of the earth. So we should not see this event in isolation. There is an . . . Iran/Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas alliance trying to destroy Israel .”

"The Israelis withdrew from Gaza to create the circumstance of peace. The Israelis withdrew from south Lebanon to create the circumstance of peace,” Gingrich continued. "They now have a thousand missiles fired from Gaza , they’ve had hundreds of missiles fired from south Lebanon . You clearly have Iranian involvement. There are at least 400 Iranian guards in south Lebanon . Apparently it was an Iranian missile fired by Iranians which hit an Israeli warship yesterday. The United States should be saying to Syria and Iran , ' South Lebanon is going to be cleared out. We are for Israel and the Lebanese government breaking the back of Hezbollah, getting rid of all 10,000 to 13,000 missiles, and we will decisively stop any effort by Syria and Iran to intervene.'”

Gingrich says the current crisis facing Israel is part of a larger world war that involved the United States .

"I mean, this is absolutely a question of the survival of Israel , but it’s also a question of what is really a world war,” Gingrich said.

He then cited a litany of events that confirm this conclusion.

" North Korea firing missiles. We say there’ll be consequences, there are none. North Koreans fire seven missiles on our Fourth of July; bombs going off in Mumbai , India ; a war in Afghanistan with sanctuaries in Pakistan . . . the Iran/Syria/Hamas/Hezbollah alliance.”

In addition, he said "there is the war in Iraq funded largely from Saudi Arabia and supplied largely from Syria and Iran .”

Ahmadinejad Warns of
'Hurricane' for Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned Tuesday that the conflict between Lebanon and Israel could trigger "a hurricane" of broader fighting in the Middle East .

Ahmadinejad's nation is a major backer of the Hezbollah militant group and a sworn enemy of Israel . In his comments, he referred to a proverb that says: "He who raises the wind will get a hurricane."

"That proverb fully relates to the Middle East , which is a very volatile region," he said. "And it will be a strong hurricane which will strike really hard."

Ahmadinejad made his comments after meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rakhmonov. The two leaders signed a joint statement declaring "that the use of force against Palestine and Lebanon is unacceptable."

"All issues of international security must be resolved through dialogue, because force does not bring a solution," the Iranian leader said. "The use of force will only exacerbate the situation."

Ahmadinejad and Rakhmonov called for a cease-fire and urged international organizations to seek the swiftest possible settlement of the conflict.

Tajikistan is an impoverished but strategically important former Soviet republic because of its border with Afghanistan . Tajik and Iranian officials signed agreements Tuesday meant to boost trade and cooperation on cultural issues, labor, justice and tourism.

The Tajik language is similar to Farsi , Iran 's main language.

N.Y. Times Retaliates Against Cheney, Rumsfeld

Beware of travel feature stories posing as invitations to terror.

"The New York Times points cranks, radicals, al-Qaida operatives and would-be assassins to the summer homes of [V.P. Dick] Cheney and [Defense Secretary Donald] Rumsfeld" writes FrontPage Magazine's David Horowitz, who sees the June 30 Times feature article as an apparent retaliation for administration "criticism of the Times' disclosure of classified intelligence to America's enemies."

In the "Escapes" section of the June 30 edition, the N.Y. Times printed huge color photos of the vacation residences of Cheney and Rumsfeld, "identifying the small Maryland town where they live, showing their front driveways and, in Rumsfeld's case, actually pointing out the hidden security camera in case any hostile intruders should get careless," Horowitz writes.

Times Travel section writer Peter Kilborn even makes sure enemies of the two men will know such details as where Mrs. Rumsfeld shops in the eastern shore town of St. Michaels, Md. where the two administration officials have weekend retreats.

He even lets the curious know what street the Cheneys and Rumsfelds have to use to get to their own road.

It's all part of the war against President Bush, Horowitz charges.

"Make no mistake about it, there is a war going on in this country," Horowitz advises, noting that the aggressors in this war "are Democrats, liberals and leftists who began a scorched earth campaign against President Bush before the initiation of hostilities in Iraq."

One of the most prevalent weapons in this war, according to Horowitz, is the New York Times.

Uzbek Authorities: Canadian Islamic Leader Wanted by Interpol

TASHKENT , Uzbekistan  — Uzbek authorities said that the fingerprints of a Canadian Islamic religious leader held in police custody in Uzbekistan match those of a Turkish man wanted by Interpol on suspicion of terrorism and murder.

In a statement posted on a government Web site late Thursday, Noufal Kholmatov, deputy director of the Uzbek branch of Interpol, said that Huseyincal Celil's fingerprints matched those of Turkish citizen Guler Dilaver, who it said was accused of terror activities in neighboring Kyrgyzstan.

The statement said Dilaver was accused of "membership in terrorist groups, kidnapping, hostage-taking, murder and illegal possession of arms."

Celil, who has lived in Canada since 2002, was arrested March 27 in Uzbekistan , where he traveled to renew his visa and visit his Uzbek wife's relatives.

A political activist who fought for the rights of dominant ethnic Uighurs in western China 's Xinjiang province, he escaped a Chinese prison in 2000, Kholmatov said.

The Interpol officer added that after the escape Celil was involved in the murder of an Uighur community leader and an attack on a visiting official delegation from Xinjiang in neighboring Kyrgyzstan .

He is wanted by Chinese authorities and could face execution if deported.

Chinese authorities have long maintained that militants among the Uighurs, Turkish-speaking Muslims, are leading a violent Islamic separatist movement in the region and are seeking to set up an independent state of "East Turkistan."

Celil's wife Kamila Telendibayeva returned to Canada last month after she was repeatedly denied visits to see her husband in jail in Uzbekistan .

Uzbekistan 's government is seen as one of the most repressive in the former Soviet Union and is a close ally of Beijing . President Islam Karimov, who has ruled the Central Asian nation with an iron fist since 1989, has drawn international condemnation for cracking down on political foes and dissident Muslims, thousands of whom have been jailed.

NEWS FROM EGYPT

       A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife and then buried her with their infant baby and 8-year old daughter. The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids.

       Fifteen days later another family member died. When they went to bury him, they found the 2 little girls under the sand - ALIVE!!

      The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed.

      The older girl was asked how she had survived. "A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister," she said.

      She was interviewed on Egyptian National TV, by a veiled Muslim woman news anchor. She said on public TV, "This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this!"

      Muslims believe Isa (Jesus) would do this, but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it's clear also that He is alive! But, it's also clear that the child could not make up a story like this, and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

      Muslim leaders are going to have a hard time to figure out what to do with this, and the popularity of the ‘Passion of The Christ’ movie doesn't help! With Egypt at the center of the media and education in the Middle East , you can be sure this story will spread. Christ is still turning the world upside down!

Revisiting the Radical Islamic Worldview

During the Cold War, there was a great clash of civilizations—communism vs. Western liberal democracy. And it threatened to destroy us in a nuclear holocaust. I was in the White House during those years. I can tell you, it was terrifying getting those daily briefings from the military. But the danger that we face from radical Islam today is even greater than the Cold War.

In the mid-1990s Harvard professor Samuel Huntington predicted that the twenty-first century would see a great clash of civilizations between Islam and the West. Nobody paid much attention. After all, we had just defeated communism. There was peace in the world. All was well.

Then came September 11, when we awoke to the fact that there are people out there who want to destroy us—not just defeat us, but annihilate us.

Why? There has been a lot of hand-wringing in the West about why they hate us. “Maybe if we just got out of the Middle East ,” some say, “or elected a new government, or abandoned the war on terror, maybe they would change their minds.” Well, what the pundits don’t realize is that this is a clash of civilizations. Armies of suicide bombers ought to tell us that their worldview matters more to them than life itself.

The hard truth is that members of Islam’s radical branches have no interest in coming to terms with non-Muslims, or even moderate Muslims. To put it bluntly, they don’t care whether we’re nice or not. To this breed of radical Muslim, there are only two options: convert or die.

Does that sound drastic? Sure. But it’s a fact.

The history of Islamic hostility toward the West goes back centuries. Radical Muslims are still smarting over the defeat of their armies south of Paris in the year 732, not to mention the catastrophic defeat of the Ottoman Empire at the gates of Vienna on September 11, 1683 . That’s right, September 11. Bin Laden chose his date for a reason. He was avenging the defeat of Muslim armies more than four hundred years earlier. September 11 has roots in an irrational hatred of the West.

There was a brilliant but paranoid Egyptian writer by the name of Sayyid Qutb, imprisoned in Egypt in 1956. In 1970, he published a book, In the Shade of the Koran, attacking the West as totally corrupt. Qutb knew what he was talking about. He lived in the United States for a time and saw our decadence. He also read Western philosophers like Heidegger and Derrida and other intellectuals who hated the West. And he read all the anti-Zionist, anti-Semitic literature.

Qutb’s In the Shade of the Koran unequivocally advocates the killing of “infidels.” He was executed by the Egyptian government, but his brother, Muhammad Qutb, escaped Egypt , went to Saudi Arabia , and became a professor at the university. One of his star pupils was none other than Osama bin Laden. Don’t tell me worldviews don’t matter. This same worldview now influences millions of radical Muslims—up to 10 percent, according to some accounts, 100 million. What we’re seeing in the Middle East today are not isolated acts of terrorism, but a widespread, well-organized, hatred-fueled movement.

Now, politicians don’t like to say politically incorrect things like this, but it’s true. We in the West had better understand that we are in a life-and-death struggle with a worldview that wants to destroy us. To see anything else would be tragically blind.
