HOW GOD CALLED ME INTO THE MINISTRY
Of Missions & Miracles
by Rev. Thomas Tutyko

It was in January 1966 that I teamed up with Max Solbrekken. Our first overseas trip took us to Japan , Korea , Taiwan , Philippines , India and Israel and lasted 3 and one-half months.

In the Philippines we preached the gospel to the headhunters of the mountains of Luzon .  In Manila in the Bethel Temple night after night people came for salvation and healing. Some outstanding things happened,

One 18 year old girl that had a goiter on her neck the size of an orange as soon as Max touched it, it was gone.  The girl became frantic when she felt her throat and realized that it was gone. Many other miracles took place too numerous to mention.

In India we had crusades in the south where God poured out His Spirit on the hungry people and saved them and healed them. Then we went to the city of Gunter in Andra Predash and they wouldn’t give us a place in their city to hold a crusade. The only place they would give us was a cow pasture outside the city with the cows still in it. It was terrible because the people were not able to sit down on the grass. On the second day 2 men came and said we are from the Police department and we have come with an urgent request. The commissioner of police had a stroke and his one side is totally paralyzed and is laying in the hospital. We heard that you pray for the sick so we have come to ask you to come to the hospital and pray for the commissioner, will you come?  Max answered, of course we’ll come and so we went with them.

We entered the hospital room where he was laying in bed and we could see that one side of his face was not normal which is sure sign of a stroke. There were nurses and doctors around him. They said please come and pray for him. So we went over to the bed and Max asked him to nod his head if he understood what was said.

He nodded because he understood English. So Max ministered the gospel to him  and asked him if he believed that Jesus had the power to heal him. He nodded his head to say yes.  Then Max laid his hands on him and rebuked the stroke in the Name of Jesus and said, Jesus heals you now. Then he said to him, I’m going to help you sit up.

So the man sat up and Max pulled his legs over the side of the bed and said, stand up on your feet and helped him stand.
( the doctors and nurses are watching all this taking place.)  Then Max says, lets walk and took a few steps with him and then he said to him, run, run, run, and the commissioner ran to the end of the corridor and back totally healed by the power of God. There was no small stir in that hospital that day.

The nurses were fluttering about with tears in their eyes while the doctors kept their eye on the Commissioner just in case. But he was healed and felt better then ever before. He was so happy and overwhelmed that he felt that he wanted to repay us somehow, so he asked,  "Is there anything that I can do for you?" Max says to him, we came to your city to bless your people and bring them salvation and healing but you sent us out into a cow pasture, maybe you can do something about that The commissioner answered don’t worry, I’ll take care of that.

The next night we were in the center of town in a beautiful park with a large platform brightly lit up and on the platform were seated a dozen city dignitaries including the Mayor. There was a large crowd of people and the Commissioner stood up and gave his testimony of how Jesus Healed Him and encouraged the people to receive us and believe what we are preaching. Then the Mayor got up and made his speech and commanded everyone to come to these meetings. After that the park was jam - packed every night and great miracles took place. There were a great number of deaf and dumb that were healed.

GOD MADE A WAY WHERE THERE SEEMED TO BE NO WAY TO FULFILL HIS WILL;  WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

I was born in Ukraine to Christian parents and migrated to Canada with my parents in 1930. At the age of 7, at my mother's knee I asked Jesus   to come into my life. Until the age of 14, I was basically living a Christian life.  Going to church and Sunday School was part of my social life. I enjoyed singing in the choir.

I have never forgotten the songs that I learned in Sunday School and the Scriptures that we memorized.  Many   times over the years I would find myself singing those songs that I learned in childhood and they did bring a measure of comfort to me. I remember one time as a sailor, we were in very rough seas with 40 foot waves. Not far away was another large ship and the only time we could see it was when we both were on a high wave. I remember a song that came to me that I had learned in Sunday School.  “

Wide,  wide as the ocean, high as the heaven above. Deep, deep as the deepest sea is my saviours love. I’m though so unworthy, still I’m a child of His care, for His love reaches me and His love teaches me everywhere.

Even in my backslidden state God would speak to me through the songs that I learned. So parents, do your best to take your children to Sunday School and Church. Later on it will pay great dividends.

My philosophy in early life was to learn as many trades as quickly as I could and that way I would never be out of a job. So I would stay on a job until I learned the trade real well and then go on to the next  employer. My reasoning was that if I knew how to do many things, then I would never be out of a job, and it was so.

Some of my occupations were, Heavy Machinery mechanic, Heavy equipment operator, Welder,  Bridge builder, Fireman, Logger,  Sailor, Steam engineer, General contractor. Boat broker. Sales business, Gold miner, Truck driver, Sawmill operator, Sash and Door maker, Commercial fisherman  and Metal Foundry.

In 1953, in the town of Williams Lake , B. C. I gave my life to the Lord and promised to serve Him the rest of my life. In the same year, my thyroid gland stopped working so I had to be on medication continually and I developed high blood pressure, heart trouble, nerves, fear and depression.

In 1954, The doctors gave me only 7 years to live and there was nothing more they could do for me. So I gave myself to do whatever I could in the Kingdom of God , teaching Sunday school, testifying  in the streets, witnessing to everybody that I  could meet and winning people to the Lord.  Then in 1958, my condition  got worse and I thought that my time to die had come. So I prayed and said Lord,  before I die help me to win someone that would  take your Gospel to many Nations of the world, because I would if I could.  About two weeks later, God sent a young man to me in answer to my prayer.

When I first saw him, I wouldn’t have thought of him as being a candidate for a missionary.  But God looks not on the outward, but on the heart. He saw a faithful heart that He could use for many years to win thousands to the Kingdom of God . Here is the account of our meeting.

His name is Bud McLean.  I met him at work where we were both employed in 1957. He was only 22 years old but he already had a bad reputation. He was a trained boxer with a very bad temper and a drinking habit. When some people that knew him, saw him coming down the street towards them, they would cross over to the other side because it would be much safer there. They knew that he loved to fight and that for no reason he could start a fight.

I had already testified to every employee on the job where I worked of what the Lord had done for me. He was the only one that I had  not met, until the day the boss sent him  to work with me. The reason was that my regular helper was sick that day. I was operating a bulldozer, building a road. It so happened that I had to change the cutting edge on the blade and that meant that the engine would be shut off for a couple of hours, and it was nice and quiet.

He had heard  from others that I was a religious fanatic and that it would be a good idea if he would do me some damage. The first thing that he said in sort of a taunting voice was:  "I hear that you are religious."

I asked: "Where did you hear that?  I'm not religious. I'm a Christian." And I began to tell him that Jesus Christ was not a religion but a person, the living Son of God and the Savior of the world. He didn't expect me to say that I wasn’t religious and that momentarily took the wind out of his sails, so I explained to him the difference between religion and Christ. And that religion couldn’t give anyone Eternal life.  At that, he calmed  down and started asking  many  questions.

Before long, he asked me what the Bible  had  to say about the 'end of the world'  because he had heard something about it. I saw that he was quite fearful about that subject so from that day on I would get together with him and show  him what the Bible had to say on the subject. That we are living in the last days and the world as we know it, is coming to an end and that God will create a new heaven and earth where there would be no more sin.

Then, I explained to him the way of Salvation. A short time later I had the privilege of leading him and his wife to the Lord.  They continued  in prayer in their own living room and they both became dedicated Christians.  I would  take him out on the streets and we would witness to people everywhere. After Bible School Bud McLean became a strong witness and pastored  a church for awhile and later did Missionary work. In the 1970's he  preached in Hungary and Romania in people's basements, staying  out of reach of the police. According to his  reports, many people came to the Lord. Others have told me, that after these many years  there are a number of large churches in these countries.

Then, the Lord sent him to many  other countries  of the world.  As I am writing this, he and his wife are still going to places like Kosovo , Albania and Hungary , doing missionary work. They and their team hand out thousands of Gospel tracts successfully in many countries of the world and have  seen thousands come to the Lord. His Son is the pastor of a church that is actively training people for Christian service.  His granddaughter is also involved in missionary work. Praise God! Just think, winning just one person to the Lord can bring multiplication of souls into the Kingdom of God .

Then in 1961 the Lord did more than I asked for and performed a miracle and healed my thyroid gland  completely and it’s been normal ever since. In  1962, the Lord called me into missionary work also and sent me to many countries of the world where we have seen thousands come to the Lord.

This Scripture was literally fulfilled in my life:

Eph 3:20-21 Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

I have been in missionary work since 1962. Our missionary work has taken us into 26 countries of the world where we have seen thousands come to the Lord.  Right know we are concentrating on Canada, Mexico and Ukraine,  I was also Senior Pastor of a church for 5 years, 1979-1984. But my calling has always been to do Evangelism and train others to do the same. I have a wife and 2 daughters and 7 grandchildren and 2 great -grandchildren . All are believers and love the Lord. This is a great blessing!

My wife, Irene, and I have been going to Ukraine since 1991 for the purpose of planting and building up the local churches throughout Ukraine and holding Evangelism Seminars to train people how to win more souls to Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, thereby multiplying the church.

135,000 people have attended our  'KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PERSONAL SOUL WINNING'  Seminar . We have also printed 140,000 Bible Correspondence Courses designed to reach those living in remote places that do not know Jesus Christ as their own personal Saviour. We are continually receiving letters telling us of wonderful transformation in people's lives. We have sent out thousands of Diplomas to those who have finished the Bible Course.  There have been many conversions and healing testimonies.

So far, 137,000 have enrolled in our Bible study course. Many have started to study and read the Bible every day which they were afraid to do before.  People are writing and asking us if we could direct them to a Church near them so that they can have fellowship with other believers. There are many Villages that have no church.  So we direct them to the church nearest to them.

Many times Christians in the church look at those in the ministry, such as Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, Teachers and others, and feel they are left out and are of little value; but the fact of the matter is that all believers have a ministry that commands a great reward. All Christians can lead others to the Lord.  When the rewards are given out by the Lord on that great day, many common ordinary believers will hear these famous words, "Well done, good and faithful servant,  enter into the joy of the Lord".

The greatest work of course, is the winning of the lost to Christ. Everyone can have a part in soul winning by many different ways: by helping to send out Missionaries to other Countries, by praying, by giving and by being involved in local church outreaches. The greatest challenge is for each individual to personally win someone to the Lord Jesus Christ. If every Christian won just one soul a year and that soul won another soul in one year, a great multiplication would take place in the churches around the world.
My Prayer is that my testimony would encourage you  to be filled with the Love of God and be a powerful witness to people on a daily basis and winning them to the Lord will become your life style. May the Lord bless you and give you many souls.

Matt 28:19-20:  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

A servant of Jesus Christ, dedicated to the salvation of lost souls.
