Canada’s No. 1 disease is now MENTAL ILLNESS! According to the findings of experts, the pressure of modern society is aggravating the situation to the point of a ‘DEPRESSIVE EXPLOSION!’

‘Coping’ is a fairly new and recent phrase, created because of the multiple tensions and pressures of everyday life.

A 1985 report from Moscow revealed how the wives of diplomats and foreign business men in Russia, couldn’t stand the isolation, the lack of fellowship with their own countrymen and the long, cold winters there. Many of them had to leave or eventually cracked up and committed suicide!

One may say ‘certainly the conditions’ under which these people had to live contributed to their fateful and dreadful end.

True, but how do we account for thousands living under excellent conditions with no harassment, persecution or language problems and who live among friends and relatives in a highly affluent society but still crack up, lose their minds, have nervous breakdowns or commit suicide?

They certainly haven’t learned to cope with their fears, frustrations, anxieties, confusions, worries and problems. It is for people like this that I have written this little booklet! For those who are tense, anxious and troubled!

My heart goes out to those who live with a constant threat on their lives from the Monster of Fear and from the tormenting Demon of Insanity which is constantly tearing their minds apart!

IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR THE MANIC DEPRESSIVE, THE FEARFUL, WORRYWART AND THE CONFIRMED, BEWILDERED NEUROTIC??

Is there freedom from fear, torment and depression without the drudgery of countless & expensive sessions with psychologists, psychiatrists or counselors? Or is one stuck with the weekly trip to the doctor and and the hundreds of sedatives, nerve pills and tranquilizers that are swallowed on a ‘regular basis’ by millions of educated, affluent, but yet disturbed humanity?

Yes, I believe there is an answer, besides swallowing great quantities of tranquilizers and nerve pills year after year.

There is an answer which does not include heavy drinking, drug abuse and pill popping. Independent of uppers and downers, depressants, hallucigenes or pot, there is an answer.

Simple basic faith in God and fervent acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, healer and deliverer. A bedrock faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and total acceptance of His Word brings us confidence and faith, which in turn creates peace in our hearts, minds and bodies. This relationship with our loving, kind Heavenly Father results in a well balanced life and a release from tension.

Automatically, when we have received God’s forgiveness and learned to forgive ourselves and others, every part of our entire being will respond positively.

Peace will then come. with a lowering of the heart beat and escape from hypertension and many other related diseases of the nervous system, as well as the heart.

Jesus Christ alone can fill the void and emptiness of the individual life, and the Word of God feeds the soul and satisfies the longings of the human heart. The Holy Spirit leads, guides, teaches, convicts and comforts us, thereby keeping us on an even keel. He also quickens and heals our bodies and grants unto us peace of soul, mind and body!

A SOUND MIND

St. Paul writing to Timothy declared, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind." (II Tim 1:7)

A sound mind doesn’t go to pieces or collapse - a sound mind is a peaceful mind which is constantly stayed on Christ. God’s promise is "I will never leave thee nor forsake

thee." Jesus used a double imperative here - the scripture states: I will never, no never leave thee. I will never, no never forsake thee!! (Heb. 13:5) Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)

Heart trouble and nervous collapse is a definite fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy regarding "the last days." There are those who are sick with an organic heart disease, but many heart attacks are brought on by nervous tensions, perplexity, anxiety and fears!

JESUS PREDICTED THIS!

Here is what He said concerning these days:

"Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." (Luke 21:26) He also stated, "....be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid, only believe." (Mark 5:36)

Very definitely, when we put our trust in the Lord, the fear leaves. But if we begin to doubt, it doesn’t take long for fears to surface again!

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED

Real faith is a marvelous antidote to fear, unbelief, doubts and wild imaginations, as well as to sickness, disease, evil habits and the very devil himself.

The Bible says, "Fear hath torment" (I John 4:16) and that "perfect love casts out fear, for fear hath torment." (I John 4:18)

Fear and torment are direct opposites of love. Fear brings torment, but love brings peace. Love is stronger than fear and casts it out, defeating it.

FEAR IS A NEGATIVE FORCE WHILE LOVE IS A POSITIVE

POWER AND LOVE CONQUERS ALL!

Many years ago, I was praying about the very real problems of fear. I learned from the Scriptures that perfect love casts out fear and I became intensely interested in finding out what "perfect love" really is.

It was then that God gave me a Revelation! God helped me to understand!

I saw a large hand extending down from Heaven and also a little hand reaching up. The two hands joined as one. Then God said, "My son, I have always loved you with an eternal love, but you haven’t always loved Me. When you reached up to take My hand, perfect love came into being and our relationship became perfect. And no fear can overcome you!"

A love relationship can never be perfect as long as only one party loves the other without any reciprocation! When I reached up to love God, our love relationship became perfect, as He loved me and I loved him.

In that moment, I became God’s property and He became my Savior, healer, provider and God - and every fear had to leave! Praise God!

Thank God, that by the Holy Ghost, the love of God not only fills our souls but reaches out to others as it is "shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost." (Rom. 5:5)

WARNING: PILLS ARE DECEIVING

Popping pills only buys you a little time! The root problem is not solved. Some prescribed sedatives may be useful for a short duration during severe pain, mourning or insomnia! They should be a temporary help to be discontinued. Pills are very deceiving and have never solved any major problem, and mixed with alcohol can be deadly.

Some people get caught up in false religion, cults or Eastern philosophies as well as ESP or the occult. Beware false cults, my friend! (II Tim. 1:7)

Jim Jones, Scientology, Children of God, Hare Krishna, Moonies, Solor Temple Cult, Herbert W. Armstrong, Jehovah’s Witnesses or LDs are only substitutes for the truth! PUT YOUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST ONLY!

Jesus Christ alone is the Saviour and Healer of this world.

Sing with the hymnwriter: "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand."

False cults lead you astray, to deceive and destroy you. DON NOT BE DECEIVED!

Jesus Christ warned: "If they say he is in the desert: go not forth; behold he is in the secret chambers; believe it not." (Matt. 24:26) And St. Paul declared: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. And we said before, so sat I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:8-9)

COMMIT THY WAY UNTO GOD!

The Bible says, "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." (Prov. 3:6) "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding." (Prov. 3:5) Again the Scripture says, "Commit thy ways unto the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." (Psalms 37:5)

In closing this message of HOPE & HEALING to you my dear friend, let me say, "Commit everything to Christ!" Share with Him your innermost thoughts, your desires and problems. Allow all bitterness, resentment and anger to leave as you lay everything in God’s Hands.

TURN YOUR PROBLEMS OVER TO HIM

The hymnwriter wrote, "Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there; If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out, Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there."

St. Paul invited, "Casting all your cares upon Him for He careth for you." (I Peter 5:7) Pastor James declared: "Confess your faults (troubles) one to another, that ye may be healed." (James 5:16)

SURRENDER TO JESUS

CHRIST TOTALLY

Don’t try to hang onto anything which is displeasing to God. COME CLEAN WITH GOD AND YOUR FELLOWMAN!

Get all the skeletons out of the closet and let Jesus look after them. The Bible says, "If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin." (I John 1:7)

Again the Scripture says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." (Rom. 8:1)

St. Paul laid it out as straight as a gun barrel when he said, "Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Rom. 5:1)

TRUST ALSO IN HIM

After you have committed your life with all its problems and perplexities to Jesus - when you have laid your burdens upon Him - then you must begin to trust and believe. And expect from that moment on that God will make everything work out for you.

The Bible says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Rom. 8:28)

We must relax in the knowledge that God is in control and is working everything out for us. Hallelujah! Jesus said, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." (Matt. 11:18)

The promise of God is that "He will bring it to pass." Listen to the words of Jesus, "Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Matt. 7:7-8)

OPEN THE DOOR OF YOUR HEART TO JESUS CHRIST TODAY. POUR OUT YOUR BURDENS TO HIM IN PRAYER. ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TO FILL YOU WITH HIS PEACE AND HE WILL!
